KAGOJER SAHOR - The Paper City ( The Paper City ) Bengali Screenplay.

This story began, as the best stories do, with something I saw and could not stop thinking about.

I wrote the screenplay with title Kagojer

Sahor ( The Paper City ) is not a story about poverty. It is not a story about ambition, or struggle, or triumph over adversity, though all of those things are present. It is, at its heart, a story about the particular, precise, irreplaceable quality of love that exists between two people who have very little — not because it is more noble or more true than the love of people who have more, but simply because, in the absence of things, love becomes the primary architecture of the life.

It is also a story about Kolkata — that impossible, infuriating, inexhaustibly generous city — which has been the backdrop of Bengali stories for two hundred years and which has still, somehow, not been fully told.
